Terms and Conditions

This page outlines the terms and conditions of use for the TIPs website and related resources.

By accessing and using TIPs, you consent to accept these terms and conditions. If you do not agree to take all of the terms and conditions stated on this page, please refrain from using TIPs.

Indemnity:

The Translator-Interpreter Pre-seeding or TIPs is a family of encoding schemes for augmenting the numerical representation of genetic sequences in machine learning research. TIPs is not a clinical tool and it is not validated for clinical applications.

TIPs is provided “as is” without any guarantees or representations of any kind, either expressed or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. You consent to indemnify, defend and hold harmless TIPs and its developers from any damage, loss, and injury that may arise from your use of TIPs.

Users assume full responsibility for any research outcomes derived from TIPs outputs.

TIPs does not warrant that the system will operate error-free, or that the site, its servers, or encoded outputs will be free of bugs, security vulnerabilities, viruses, or other harmful components.

If the use or transfer of TIPs results in data loss, corruption, or the need for servicing or replacing resources, including third party dependencies, TIPs is not responsible for any associated costs.

TIPs and its developers reserve the right to make changes to this website, processes, workflow, guidelines, and terms of use at any time, with or without notice to you. Continued use of TIPs after changes constitutes acceptance of the revision.

Permitted use:

TIPs may be used for research and educational purposes only.

Data and outputs from TIPs may not be sold, distributed, sublicensed, or used in any form of commercial application or in any application/product/services that competes with TIPs. Creation of database or server using the outputs and data from TIPs is not allowed without a TIPs license.

Any research or publication that used TIPs must cite the relevant TIPs member/model/tool, as per recommended citation guideline.

Users are not allowed to interface or use TIPs in a way that may cause excessive or exacerbate server loading or storage capacity issues. In case where this happens, TIPs reserves the right to take any appropriate action to mitigate any disruption.

Users are not allowed to download or access other users’ data. The use of scraping tools and automated scripts to download unauthorized data from TIPs is prohibited.

Eligibility:

TIPs-VF is available exclusively for research and educational purposes and strictly prohibits commercial use.

Users must register and access their account using a valid institutional or university email address (strictly with ‘.edu’).

TIPs and its developers reserve the right to reject access requests that do not meet these eligibility criteria.

Intellectual property:

As between you and TIPs, you own all right, title, and interest in your sequence and project data. You grant TIPs, its developers, and parent organization a royalty-free and sublicensable license to host, copy, store, display, and process your data over TIPs infrastructures and related resources, as well as to improve TIPs and derive new members, models, or tools.

All data and outputs from TIPs including its algorithms, technology infrastructures, codebase, and resources that are legitimately linked and claimed on TIPs are all proprietary to TIPs.

Data submission:

Users are responsible for ensuring that any data submitted for encoding complies with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines.

TIPs reserves the right to cancel submissions that do not follow the recommended processing requirements as communicated to users through this website or any legitimate platforms owned or hosted by TIPs.

TIPs reserves the right to deny submissions that do not conform with the file type needed, exceed the file size limit, and file naming requirement.

Users can request to cancel or delete their submissions at anytime through TIPs or by contacting the support through email or the ‘contact us’ form, or other legitimate channels as communicated on this website.

To provide all users equal and fair use of TIPs resources, submitted data (from oldest to new) may be deleted from the database at anytime when storage is at critically low levels. Likewise, TIPs output may also be deleted from the storage normally after a week but may be earlier or later depending on server storage capacity. We will try to contact and inform users affected by immediate deletion issue if occurs. Alternatively, outputs may be sent to your email for download but server copy could be removed or migrated securely to another storage platform.

Upon submission of request or account registration, you agree to be contacted by TIPs and its parent organization, primarily through the email you provided, for any updates and important communications stipulated under the Privacy policy.

Termination of access:

Users who violate these Terms and Conditions may have their access revoked without prior notice.

Any attempt to use TIPs for unauthorized and criminal purposes, including commercial applications without license, may result in legal actions.

Any requests, data, output, and information that are related to terminated accounts due to violations stipulated herein maybe deleted, denied for access, or maybe shared as requested by law.

TIPs reserves the right to deny any request or account registration from users with previously revoked accounts.

Licensing TIPs:

License fees are applicable for commercial and for-profit-use of TIPs. This licensing-based model ensures the continued growth of TIPs and supports the improvement of TIPs functionalities and features, as well as, oversee the development of other better encoding schemes.
